Dimapur, Feb. 28 (EMN): The Naga People’s Front on Thursday expressed displeasure over the attitude of the PDA legislators during the recently concluded Assembly session.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the party claimed that either the questions put forth by its legislators were rejected in the business list or many of the questions raised by the opposition bench “were not answered or either (got) twisted.”
“It may be pointed out that, on the last day of debate on the budget speech laid before the House by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, the NPF Legislature party leader, TR Zeliang who is the opposition leader had raised and sought clarification from the state Planning Minister, Neiba Kronu on the road sector. But the Planning minister had failed to provide any satisfactory answer to the much public importance in the floor of the House.
“To the queries, Kronu simply went on to say that, good quality roads for Dimapur and Kohima will be completed within 2-3 years and change will be visible in these two cities and the contractors concerned will maintain those roads for 3 years after the completion of the road project without mentioning any particular roads. When the opposition leader asked the concerned minister (sic) to produce which were the roads in the two cities and under which scheme the ongoing roads were executing and also sought to know the amount against each road and request (sic) the Planning minister to publish the same in the local dailies the following day. However, till date no such information sought by the opposition appeared in the local papers (sic),” it stated.
Citing this instance, the NPF has asked the ruling government to be “sincerer” in its approach towards development.
