DIMAPUR — The Naga People’s Front (NPF) has dismissed social media reports regarding a purported letter to the Governor of Nagaland on withdrawal of support to the present state government by various political parties, including the NPF.
In a press release, the NPF press bureau said that the party does not see any shred of merit in responding to the purported letter. However, since the party’s name has been dragged in, it is compelled to clarify that the NPF is unaware of the development and has nothing to do with it.
Asserting that the NPF party remains steadfast in supporting the present government led by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, it reminded that, to this effect, a letter had been officially communicated to the chief minister during the formation of the present government, to strengthen the ongoing peace process and to bring about an early honourable solution to the protracted Naga political issue.

The NPF went on to inform that the party is still committed to the resolution of the Naga political issue and for which the party once again reiterate its letter of support to the present government for the sake of the Naga political issue.
“The NPF although committed on its support to the PDA government is fully aware that it is a separate political entity whose responsibility is to protect the identity of the Naga people in particular and the Indigenous people of the Northeast region.
“Hence, even as the party’s support to the present government continues, it will not shy away from its responsibilities to raise various issues that are confronting our people and also for the progress and development of our state,” the release added.
