NPF : DAN not ‘ communal’

The NPF today said it wants to set the record straight on the ‘communal’ label leveled against it by the Congress in the state. In a press release ,the President NPF and Chairman DAN Shiirhozelie Liezietsu said the Congress referring to the DAN association with BJP and terming DAN as communal is unfortunate.DAN is a conglomeration of all non –congress political parties in the state, and the BJP is one and has been its constituent partner since 2003, the release stated.Shiirhozelie also adds that he had directed the two lone NPF MPs, namely, Rajya Sabha MP Khekiho Zhimomi, and Lok Sabha MP CM Chang to give issue based support to the UPA at the centre. Ironically the UPA leaders chose to share their gratitude by reducing the Plan money for Nagaland at the behest of Nagaland Congress leaders. The NPF also remarks that while the concern displayed by congress leaders towards the safety and security of the Christians in Nagaland is ‘touching’, they would wish the same will remain long after the elections are over. The statement allays fears of the congress stating that in 11 years of its association with the BJP as a constituent of DAN there has never been an instance of threat meted out to any section of people and the freedom of worship has not changed in the state.
The statement concludes with a salvo that the congress failed to take up the Naga political issue and provide the state its due share in economic development. But the government survived despite these setbacks and that God willing a new dawn of peace and prosperity is on the anvil.
