Dimapur, Feb. 26 (EMN): President of the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC), K Therie, has claimed that the Naga People’s Front (NPF) ‘cannot win even one seat without the support of undergrounds,’ saying the people would defeat NPF for their alleged nexus with them.
Describing the statement of NPF president, Dr. Shurhozelie Liezietsu, who allegedly stated that ‘Those against NPF are against Nagas’ as a desperate last attempt, Therie stated that such utterance was misleading and uncalled for. Therie stated that NPF’s politics was detrimental to the interests of Nagas in Manipur and amounted to violation of election code of conduct.
“NPF’s politics ends at Kohima. NPP’s politics also ends at Shillong. They cannot defend or protect the interests of Nagas in Parliament. They are mere stooges of the BJP. Voting for NPF or for BJP is the same,” Therie claimed.
Stating that NPF is contesting in few Naga inhabited areas with the support of UG, Therie alleged that INC candidates were threatened and pressed to withdraw their nominations while voters too were threatened with dire consequences.
He went on to claim that Rahul Gandhi’s rally in Manipur drew a crowd of over 50,000, while Narendra Modi’s rally drew about 10,000.
