Dimapur, Jan. 29: NPF Bhandari unit has accused the BJP counterpart of trying to fool the public and mislead the State Election Commission (SEC) by hurling wild allegations against the home minister adding it was nothing but an attempt to tarnish the good image of the home minister in particular and the NPF party in general.
In a counter rejoinder, NPF Bhandari accused the BJP Bhandari unit of twisting the statement of the home minister to suit their convenience. It said the confession that the home minister had not mentioned anything about appointment in the police department in their rejoinder has proven beyond doubt that he has not said anything on that context.
‘What they actually tried to do was to fool the public and mislead the State Election Commission by hurling wild allegation against honourable home minister. It is also nothing but an attempt to tarnish the good image of the home minister in particular and the NPF party in general,’ 40 Bhandari AC president Khongthungia Odyuo, youth president Thungbemo Ennio, farmers wing president Thungdemo Kikon, women wing president Lucy Kikon and president Bhandari unit Elhibamo Shitiri have stated in a joint statement.‘If they have any evidence of their allegation of the home minister in regard to appointment in the police department in lieu of voting for NPF in the ensuing ULB election as alleged by BJP Bhandari 40 A/C unit, they should have reiterated in their rejoinder,’ it added.
NPF Bhandari, therefore, reiterated that Nyamo Odyuo should tender unconditional apology to the honourable home minister as well as to the NPF Bhandari 40 A/C unit.
It said the home minister made clear that although BJP and NPF are in alliance in the present government, both NPF and BJP are a separate political party with a separate identity. On giving any financial aid to a candidate who belongs to another political party during election, it said what the home minister meant was that each party has to look after their own party candidates as both the parties are a registered and recognised political parties functioning independently.
As far as the remark of the home minister in regards to supply of oxygen to BJP by NPF was concerned, the NPF 40 Bhandari A/C Unit maintained that it was the BJP who used that particular language which was also widely published in the local dailies. It wondered as to why BJP was so agitated over the remarks.
The NPF opined that since NPF is the single largest party in the present government, it termed as politically correct to say that BJP survives in Nagaland due to the oxygen supplied by NPF.
