Dimapur, March 20 (EMN): The Naga People’s Front (NPF) party is yet to arrive at a conclusive decision, even as the party awaits confirmation from its leaders for the nomination of a candidate for the upcoming Rajya Sabha election.

NPF secretary general Achumbemo Kikon when contacted told Eastern Mirror on Sunday that the party “president has written a letter to the leader of the NPF Legislature wing and the party is yet to receive the reply from them”.

With Monday (March 21) being the last date for filing nominations, Kikon said they ‘still have time’, till the filing of this report.

Reliable sources had informed this newspaper on Saturday (March 19) that NPF had decided to field veteran politician Thenucho Tunyi as its candidate.

NPF President Dr. Shurhozelie Liezietsu had also written to its legislature party leader TR Zeliang informing that Tunyi had come forward to stand for the upcoming election. He had requested Zeliang to take up the matter and entrust MLAs to sign the nomination paper on Monday morning to enable the party’s nomination to file his nomination on time.
