[dropcap]L[/dropcap]ongnyi Konyak Lt. Col., Mr. Johnny Revenue Secy Tirap district of NSCN (K) has been threatening the Village chiefs, GBs and the villagers under Dadam circle to cast their votes only in favour of People’s Party of Arunachal (PPA) candidate Shri. Tairong under 56th Khonsa West (ST) A/C, Tirap district, Arunachal. A press statement from the NPF Unit in Tirap district alleges that the NSCN (K) Revenue Secy, Tirap has threatened that in the event of voters failing to cast their votes in favour of PPA candidate ,the villagers shall be held responsible for any eventualities. The statement also says that they heard reports that PPA under 56th Khonsa West (ST) A/C have resolved to booth capture in every polling station under Dadam circle in mobilizing two youths to cast the votes in favour of PPA on behalf of all the electors in every polling station.
The NPF unit affirmatively states that the above referred action of the two NSCN (K) members were self styled and not with the directive of its government. The development the press release states, is confusing the general public of the Naga inhabited area since it clashes with the logic of Naga national workers going against its own regional party NPF. The Naga people living under Tirap district appeal to both the factions to be silent in the present general election and give space to the electors to exercise their franchise freely and without intimidation.
The statement also refers to another occasion when 12 supporters of NPF candidates Shri Phawang Lowang of Raho village under Lazu circle were assaulted by one NSCN (IM) cadre namely Shr. Jenngu Rumchu CAO Pangmi region. The statement alleges that the NPF supporters were beaten by the NSCN(IM) cadres while branding Nagaland CM Neiphi Rio and NPF candidate Phawang Lowang as “traitor and theif” for having sold the people and country long before. They were also forced to sign an undertaking stating tha the reason for the assault was for defying the NSCN/GPRN.
The CAO also stated that was following the dictats of his high command.
