Dimapur, June 26 (EMN): The Naga People’s Front (NPF) may be lambasting the BJP and its leaders over several issues but it has now said that the two parties were negotiating on seat sharing for the 2018 Assembly elections when the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) came into the picture and spoiled the possible deal.

In a press release issued on Wednesday, the NPF has claimed that the party “was in negotiation with the BJP party on the latter’s demand for seat sharing” before the NDPP offered 20 seats to the BJP.

“Had NDPP contested on its own and not hijacked the deal, which was being worked out, they would have had a bitter result and left squirming,” read the statement.

It also claimed that the NDPP indulged in “horse-trading and nefarious back channelling” of JD(U) and NPP MLAs as it was one seat short of forming the government after aligning with the BJP.

“Even the lone independent MLA approach the NPF party first and pledge support, however before it could be made official, Rio’s cohorts got hold of him and offered plump portfolio thus getting his support officially,” lamented the NPF.

It also said the recent merger of two NPP MLAs and the lone JD(U) MLA with the NDPP is “beyond comprehension,” citing that the two parties were part of the PDA government.
