NPF 5-Ghaspani-II A/C leaders resign en masse, join NDPP ahead of Nagaland election
Dimapur, Nov. 14 (EMN): In a setback to the Naga People’s Front (NPF) ahead of the Nagaland Assembly election due next year, as many as 25 office bearers of the party’s 5-Ghaspani-II Assembly constituency (A/C) are said to have resigned en masse along with their supporters last month.
A press declaration signed by the president of NPF 5-Ghaspani-II A/C, Ketholeto Keyho, and vice president Vizo Khro, a copy of which is available with this newspaper, stated that the decision was taken after an emergency meeting of the constituency’s party leaders on October 25 ‘as per the consecutive meeting of the party held on July 2 and Oct. 9 this year’.
It said that they had “lost confidence in the party and its leadership”.
In the meeting, the house unanimously resolved to join the NDPP with immediate effect and support the candidature of the sitting MLA of the constituency Zhaleo Rio, who is the advisor of Sericulture, Excise and Minority Affairs.
It also resolved to support the leadership of the incumbent Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and NDPP president Chingwang Konyak “for peace and all round development of the state”.
