Dimapur, April 30 (EMN): The Nagaland unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been served a dare by the Indian National Congress to join the secular front if the former was at all serious about ‘safeguarding’ the Christian faith. The unit had declared recently that the party had resolved to ‘safeguard’ the Christian faith. The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) issued a press release on Sunday stating that resolutions were not enough. “If there is any truth in the minds of the state BJP to safeguard the Christian faith and identity of Nagas, join secular front to fight the nuisance designs of RSS and BJP,” the press release, appended by NPCC’ chief K Therie, challenged. The Congress took a jibe at BJP’s ribs too: “For the first time we have heard that the state BJP is coming to some sense hearing the cry of the people.” But, the NPCC reminded, “Just a resolution is not enough.” According to the NPCC one cannot underestimate the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) “the guardian of BJP.” For no war is greater than an ideological war. the press release remarked. “It all began in 1925 with the objective to have a Hindu nation with racial purity rule as their philosophy. It has 6 million volunteers deeply trained and 6,000 schools educating RSS ideology. BJP workers are all hardcore RSS. No BJP general secretary is married so that they can devote full time,” the Congress stated. “They always plan long term programmes. The RSS think-tank is one of the longest serving think-tanks planning against the principles of secularism. They have drugged Dalits with religious sentiments. The cow is made to be believed as God and they are employed as vigilantes. The cow is dearer than Human life.” The Congress stated further that the ‘world’ was aware of their anti-Christian activities. “World leaders have even cautioned the BJP government to demean and forget Christian holy days like Christmas Day, Good Friday, Holy Saturday and Easter Sunday, the BJP Government has declared them as official functioning days.” Hindi and Sanskrit, the NPCC added, is “compulsory in schools.” Further, the Congress alleged, there is a proposal to read the Bhagwat Gita as the national book. “These programs and changes are long term programmes in just three years of BJP. The danger is near and real.” The NPCC is of the opinion that when they get majority in the Rajya Sabha and in the number of states, “they will force” the Uniform Civil Code where Special Provisions under Art. 370 and 371(A), (B), (C), etc., will become dormant. “That day we will lose our identity. UCC means to RSS a Hindu nation, Hindu religion, one personal law and one tax,” the Congress party added.
