Dimapur, June 13 (EMN):
As the Congress party members took part in the ‘satyagraha’ march in various parts of the country on Monday, the day MP Rahul Gandhi was questioned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the National Herald case, the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) alleged that the case was intentionally filed against Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Rahul to harass and silence the opposition leaders from highlighting the failures and wrong policing of the NDA government.

In an interaction with the media at Congress Bhavan in Dimapur on Monday, NPCC president K Therie claimed that all the government machineries have become political tools during the 7-8 years of Modi-led government, which had never happened during the Congress rule.

‘The NPCC believes in forgiveness and truth, but does not consider vendetta and revenge as solutions; it is not their culture or custom, and what is happening in the nation has become a daily occurrence and it is through BJP instigation,’ he said.

He went on to term the summoning of Rahul to the ED office as “purely political vendetta”, as ‘he is the only person questioning Modi government and standing for the people’.

He said that the NPCC would submit a memorandum to the President of India through the Governor of Nagaland on Monday, requesting the good office to restrain the NDA government from engaging in political vendetta by using official agencies such as the ED, CBI, NIA, and others to register fake and fabricated cases against the Congress President Sonia Gandhi and MP Rahul.

The memorandum stated that political vendetta have been unleashed by the NDA Government against political opponents in the country utilizing the services of Central government agencies like ED CBI, NIA, etc

That in this connection, based on a private criminal complaint filed by a BJP MP in 2013, the Enforcement Directorate has registered a fresh case under the criminal provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) after taking cognizance of an Income Tax Department probe against Young Indian Pvt. Ltd., the Congress President Sonia Gandhi and MP Rahul Gandhi were summoned for recording statements in a money laundering case linked to the National Herald newspaper, read the memorandum.

It may be mentioned that Rahul Gandhi was earlier given a clean chit by the competent authority but the ED has registered a fresh case against him.

During the press conference, AICC Secretary in-charge of Nagaland, Ranajit Mukherjee stated that Rahul was summoned by the ED on Monday, and so party leaders decided to walk alongside him as he went to the ED office, which is a constitutional right, but the congress MP and several senior leaders were detained by the Delhi police for no reason.

Mukherjee added that the ruling dispensation is so scared of Rahul that they did not allow the leaders of the Congress party to walk with him, despite the fact that there were justifiable cases of ED and CBI in Nagaland itself that have not seen the light of day, and yet instead of worrying about education, employment, GDP, etc., the ruling dispensation continuously wants to use diversionary tactics to divert the minds of Indians away from what should really concern them.
