Dimapur, Sep. 20 (EMN): Even as the solution to the Indo-Naga political issue was expected within the month of September, the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has expressed readiness to field its candidates should the ensuing by-elections to the 14 Southern Angami-I and 60 Kiphire-Pungro assembly constituencies scheduled in October/ November 2020 is conducted.

“We also have a political solution coming up within September 2020. We cannot predict whether the by-election will really take place for the state government, and may be dismissed to implement a political solution under a neutral government,” NPCC president K Therie stated. Referring to the recent development between the state government and the governor, he was sceptical as it indicated that all is not well.

“It is true that law and order has collapsed long time back since regional political parties have adopted a policy to support and facilitate the peace process. They have freed all factions to impose their governance over its citizens. There is no more law and order,” Therie claimed.

Stating that multitudes were assassinated, killed, murdered and the women raped, while every village council, VDB, entrepreneurs and government departments were subjected to extortion and whereas 24% of salary was even paid to ‘self-styled’ government, Therie has questioned if anyone could deny the truth.

Therie also stated that the prime minister of India, Narendra Modi, would be removed as the people do not require him anymore.

“People understand he is a big liar and that he has destroyed the vibrant economy Congress built for the nation. He is a communalist, anti-secular, anti-minority and a great liar,” Therie alleged.

He stated that the nation needs a strong India to defend and restore the vibrant economy and create jobs adding that the nation needs Congress now more than ever.

Claiming that the Congress is a collection of experts in Sociology, Law and Economics, Therie stated that only the Congress could bring about change to the nation.

“NPCC is the only party standing for Nagas of Nagaland. All other parties consider Nagaland people as second class and purchasable people. We have succumbed to their threats and ill treatment in our own land. They think carrot and stick are required to deal with Nagaland people. They do not believe there is God in election,” Therie claimed.

Therie went on to state that none of the candidates had raised issues such as Citizen Amendment Act, Hindutva, which are threats to the identity and religion. He also stated that none had opposed the hike in the price of petrol and diesel.

He, therefore, stated that the Congress has candidates and soldiers, who are ideologically prepared to be called for duty any time. He, however, stated that the Congress party in the state would assess the mood of the people and take decisions at an appropriate time.
