NPCC protests ‘attacks’ on Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Assam
DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC), led by its senior leaders, staged a protest at the Congress Bhavan in Kohima on Monday to condemn the ‘repeated attacks on the Rahul Gandhi-led Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra convoy by BJP workers in Assam over the past three days’.
While maintaining that the yatra was successfully conducted in Manipur, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh without any untoward incidents, it accused the Himanta Biswa Sarma-led BJP government in Assam of “desperately putting everything at its disposal to stop the yatra”.
In a press release issued on Monday, it claimed that the Assam government tried to stop the yatra by resorting to acts “ranging from tearing down of posters and banners to carrying out multiple planned attacks on the convoy, leading to many casualties among the yatris, including injuries to the Assam PCC President”.
While condemning the alleged attacks, it also reaffirmed its support and commitment towards the success of the yatra.
