DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has urged every voter in the state to participate in the electoral process by exercising their constitutional rights on the day of the poll.

In a press communiqué, the party stated that the right to vote is not just a privilege but a basic human right and a cornerstone of democracy, enabling citizens to have a say in who governs them and how they are governed.

Further, it highlighted some important general awareness regarding the electoral process among the public at large.

It encouraged every citizen and eligible voter to download the cVIGIL app and become familiar with its functions to ensure instant reporting of any disruption of the electoral process or violation of any model code of conduct (MCC) or electoral provisions by any individual, group, or political party, whether from ground zero or otherwise.

It emphasised that every citizen and eligible voter should remain vigilant against acts that not only undermine democratic principles and values but also interfere adversely with the principle of universal adult suffrage. It further encouraged prompt reporting of any such incidents to the Election Authority through the cVIGIL app or by other means.

Reminding that the sequence of candidates may be arranged differently on the EVMs from one polling station to another, it advised every eligible voter to ensure voting for the desired candidate by looking for the party symbol on the EVMs and pressing the button assigned for that party.

The NPCC appealed to all the village councils in Nagaland, gaon buras, and all poll-related officials to do everything within their power to ensure a free and fair election on the day of the poll.

“The NPCC would like to reiterate and appeal to every eligible voter in the state to exercise their constitutional right on the day of the poll and make a difference by voting,” it read.
