DIMAPUR — Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has called for suspension of Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) government-nominated councillor Enoch Wotsa over his alleged involvement in transporting a large quantity of alcohol using a government-registered vehicle.
In a press release issued on Thursday, the NPCC stated that Wotsa, who is also the vice president of the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPPYouth Wing in Dimapur, was apprehended by Khatkati Police in Assam in the early hours of August 13 while reportedly travelling in a convoy comprising a government vehicle and two private vehicles.
Describing the incident as “a blatant betrayal of public trust,” the party alleged that Wotsa had “brought irreparable shame to the people of Nagaland” by misusing state resources and flouting the law.

The NPCC demanded Wotsa’s immediate suspension from the DMC pending a full investigation, as well as the initiation of criminal proceedings against him and his associates under relevant legal provisions.
The party also called for a high-level inquiry into the misuse of government vehicles for illegal activities.
Accusing the ruling NDPP government of fostering a “culture of impunity and entitlement,” the NPCC said that the incident reflects the abuse of power by politically connected individuals.
