Dimapur, Sep. 25 (EMN): Accusing the ruling PDA government of lacking plan to build the economy, the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has called for revival of economy policy.
NPCC president K Therie alleged that the state government has closed avenues for banks and other financial institutions from giving loans to the public.
“There is no effective organised agriculture market to help the farmers. There is no minimum support price (MSP) that is otherwise applied in the nation. Nothing for the people for five years,” Therie alleged.
He went on to claim that the politics of the ruling party and government is to “loot development funds and buy land, properties, create more properties and buy votes in the next election”. He added that the deficit would continue to grow no matter the amount is given to the “corrupt” state government.
With an estimated INR 2,358.81 crore deficit by the current financial year-end, Therie claimed that the activities undertaken by state government to improve the state’s revenue was negative. He added that shortfall in government revenue does not matter the public as funds do not percolate down to the public. For the public, he said, it is ‘by the sweat of thy brow shall thou eat beard’.
Stating that the farmers might not understand modern economy, Therie felt it is time for the intellectuals to understand the need of reviving the economic policies and programmes more than any other subject.
He also stated that the Covid-19 pandemic has been one good excuse for the BJP government at the centre. He, therefore, stated that removal of the prime minister, Narendra Modi, would be the answer to restore the economy of the nation.
Claiming that BJP do not have economic experts, Therie said they are guided by corporates and contractors. He also alleged that the nation’s assets are now on sale.
“The vibrant economy that BJP took over from UPA has been destroyed completely,” Therie alleged.
