Dimapur, Sep. 29 (EMN): The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has blamed the ruling Progressive Democratic Alliance (PDA) government in Nagaland for the delay in arriving at a solution to the Naga political issue.

“I condemn the double standard behaviour of state government. The only obstacle to solution and happiness is the state government now,” read a press release issued by NPCC president K Therie on Tuesday.

Stating that the incumbent chief minister had earlier promised to pave the way for Naga solution, Therie said “this is the time he should honour his commitment that the stakeholders have found acceptable and honourable solution.”

Therie has claimed that anti-solution forces have succeeded in delaying the dateline, while describing the state government as “anti-Nagaland”.

“Before people they speak of early solution, but before GOI they fight for delay in the name of inclusiveness. I do not know how long it will be delayed again. Nagaland state government will know better,” Therie said.

“23 years of negotiations itself speaks, it is enough. Both the parties know each other perhaps more than husband and wife. GOI has also replied what is givable and what is not givable,” he added.

He said that the Congress has assured to stand by the demand of stakeholders. “We believe in freedom of expression through fair democratic process. Democracy is by the stakeholders and for the Stakeholders. To us, the welfare of the stakeholders is the final law. Congress should not be the only political party standing for Nagaland stakeholders but today we find Congress alone,” he said.

‘In our view solution is and will be inclusive of all. One may agree to disagree, it is natural in democracy, there are always healthy oppositions but majority prevails. There is no shame to accept the majority’s will,’ he added.

He went on to state that Naga public needs peace, development, employment and economic growth. While pointing out that organised farming and marketing avenues with minimum support price (MSP) are urgently required, he has sought for skill development and funding avenues to promote entrepreneurs. He added that infrastructure is urgently needed to raise industries and build its own resources and be self-content.
