The NPCC has expressed concern over the devastating floods in Mon district, urging the Nagaland and Central governments to provide immediate relief, rehabilitation and humanitarian assistance to affected families.
DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has expressed profound grief and concern over the devastating floods that have severely affected Tizit town, Tizit village and Lapalampong village in Mon district.
In a press statement, the NPCC said reports indicate that nearly 800 households in Tizit town alone have been affected by the floods, which have caused widespread destruction and triggered a humanitarian crisis.
According to the party, homes, schools, hostels, shops, tea gardens, cultivated lands and livestock have either been washed away or suffered extensive damage, leaving hundreds of families in distress.
Expressing concern over the reported lack of adequate relief, the NPCC said the affected people have yet to receive sufficient assistance despite the scale of the disaster.
It stressed that the immediate priority should be to save lives and ensure the provision of shelter, food, clean drinking water, medicines, clothing and the restoration of essential services.

The NPCC urged the Government of Nagaland, the State Disaster Management Authority and all concerned agencies to immediately undertake comprehensive relief and rehabilitation measures.
It also appealed to the Central government to extend all possible assistance to ensure timely support for the affected families and help them rebuild their lives with dignity.
Reaffirming its solidarity with those affected, the party expressed sympathy with every family that has suffered loss and hardship. It also offered prayers for the safety, strength and speedy recovery of the victims and for comfort and courage to those who have lost their homes and livelihoods.
The NPCC further appealed to civil society organisations, churches, non-governmental organisations, businesses and citizens to contribute relief materials, financial assistance and voluntary services to support the flood-affected communities.
