Dimapur, Aug. 20 (EMN): The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has said that ‘no one had heard of the July 16 Parliamentary Committee resolution being communicated to the Centre’ till the media reported about it.

In a press release issued on Saturday, the party said the ‘the people have been taking the statements of the Prime Minister of India and the Chief Minister of Nagaland in all seriousness, expecting deliverance every time’.

It added that the Congress has placed on record its support to the two official agreements in the most positive approach to their assurance for a solution they have facilitated.

While reminding the BJP-NDPP that seven years have passed since the “PM announced that Naga political issue was resolved”, it asked what has been resolved and why should anyone go back from what they agreed and concluded.

“It is now the responsibility of the Hon’ble PM to answer to the people and not the responsibility of others,” read the press release.

It alleged that time and again the people have been brainwashed with the BJP’s ‘election for solution’ promising early settlement, and the ‘same sound is echoing after they abandoned the July 16, 2022, Parliamentary Committee resolution and announced the seat sharing deal on July 26’.

The NPCC also accused the BJP and NDPP of “trying to defend crimes and corruption perpetrated against the people by raking up a non issue”, which, it claimed the CM had “clarified by giving a clean chit”.

However, the party didn’t mention the crimes the alleged two political parties were trying to defend.

“If there is any misconduct in the mentioned 365 Crs., provide evidence or apologize else face defamation case (sic),” it stated, while accusing the CM of amassing wealth during the past several years.

It claimed the state continues to reel under misgovernance and corruption, citing poor road condition, erratic power supply, late payment of salaries, non-payment to contractors and unemployment.

The party also said that “self employment cannot sustain due to extortion”.

“The syndicates supported by unscrupulous elements have control over business activities, thereby, stifling the sincere Naga youth struggling to establish themselves in business. Everything in Dimapur has syndicates who suck the blood of innocent Nagas,” read the statement.

The NPCC also claimed that the people knew about its MLAs being lured to join NPF in the previous Assembly and how the NDPP and BJP won the last elections by spending crores of rupees, while accusing the parties of buying votes.

“It is also very disturbing and alarming that the BJP Nagaland and UDA govt. have not condemned the draft constitution of ‘Hindu Rashtra’ which declares India as a Hindu nation under which Christians and Muslims will have no voting rights. They have also failed to condemn the release of convicted rapists just a few days ago,” NPCC stated, adding that the UDA should “defend the interests of the people they represent”.
