Dimapur, Sep. 18 (EMN): The gaon burras of Medziphema town has joined their Dimapur counterparts in asking the state government to ‘consider the practical difficulties’ faced by members of the public who have been asked to link their aadhaar with ration cards.
A press release from the Medziphema Town GB Union on Monday stated that aadhaar card is not ‘instantly obtainable’. “Moreover, to produce the required documents such as PRC/ST/indigenous certificates and applicant has to go back to his/her hometown/native village which is time consuming.
“Even after completing all formalities, an applicant has to wait for some days or even months for the aadhaar card to be generated. The GB Union is also of the opinion that if Nagaland government can withhold/postpone the municipal elections on the ground that it violates Article 371 (A) of the Indian Constitution; it should also do away with the requirement of aadhaar for the same reasons. Further discussion and suggestions in this regard would be welcomed,” it stated.
