Kohima, Aug. 26 (EMN): Citizens in Nagaland can now access information related to all kinds of court cases online through the Case Information System (CIS) (version 1.0).

Justice S Serto, Portfolio Judge of Gauhati High Court Kohima Bench (GHCKB) officially launched the CIS at the office premises of GHCKB on Monday.

Neiko Akami, Registrar-cum-Central Project Coordinator (CPC), informed that the CIS has been initiated by the Supreme Court with the coordination of National Information Centre (NIC). He lauded the NIC and CPC for their tireless efforts towards making the system available.

Shushanta Kumar Mondal, SIO, NIC Nagaland State Centre, said the GHCKB has reached another milestone, and acknowledged the efforts made in implementing the CIS successfully. He further assured technical help and support to the GHCKB as and when required.

Amento Asumi, Programmer, GHCKB said that the CIS was available offline till August 25 within their registry, while giving a brief demonstration of the new CIS through a visual display.

He explained how one could login to the website and check the case status, details of pending cases, disposed cases and the cases which have been entered in the CIS. The information of court cases from April 2019 till date will be available on the CIS, he informed .

Asumi also demonstrated how people could view their cases, see writ petitions or details of different cases, view judgments and orders, insert a registered advocate’s name, case numbers, party names and other facilities available on the website.

Lanusungkum Aier, Additional State Informative Officer, e-Courts Coordinator, NIC Nagaland, stated that the system would help not only the law practitioners but also common people as they will be able to view data through an open domain portal to know what is happening to a particular court case. “This is quite transparent and available for everybody, which will also make us aware and be updated about pending cases,” he added.

The High Court CIS can be accessed by login to the official website of GHCKB at the address – kohimahighcourt.gov.in or ecourts.gov.in.
