Dimapur, May 19 (EMN) : The ongoing Clean Election campaign across Nagaland itself reflects that electioneering is ‘not clean and it is time to clean while the campaign has been successful in some areas,’ deputy commissioner of Dimapur Kesonyu Yhome has observed. According to the administrator, ‘It is not proper for GBs appointed by government to indulge negatively during elections,’ updates on Friday stated.
It was informed that the deputy commissioner was addressing the first ‘coordination meeting’ of the Dimapur Urban Council Chairmen Federation (DUCCF) and GBs’ Union of Dimapur (Sadar) on Clean Election on Friday at the Lotha Hoho Ki in Dimapur.
‘People do not value their votes and the same people do not have any right to blame the politicians after having indulged in unfair means during elections,’ Yhome was quoted as having stated during the event.
Also, the administrator of the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) Moa Sangtam said that the government was “a reflection of the people and instead of blaming the policy makers people should first change themselves.”
During the meeting, it was decided that a core group comprising members of colony councils, GBs, women leaders, youth leaders, church leaders and “intellectuals” would be formed in each colony with around 20-40 members.
The Joint Forum of the DUCCF and GB Union of Dimapur will come up with a ‘pledged sticker’ to be pasted on the “main entrance door of every household which have taken the pledge,” it was informed.
