Dimapur, Aug. 27 (EMN): An orientation and meeting of Northeast youth leaders and student organisation leaders was held at the Don Bosco Navjeevan Society, Sector 24B in which twenty youth leaders representing the six Northeastern states of Arunachal, Assam, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Sikkim, participated.
According to a press release received here on Monday, the orientation cum meeting, an initiative of Don Bosco Youth Centre (DBYC), Itanagar in collaboration with Don Bosco Navjeevan Society, Chandigarh, was in view of the 4th edition of North East Youth Fest Chandigarh.
While briefing the participants about the origin and aims of organising the North East Youth Fest here at Chandigarh, Fr. Cyriac, Director, DBYC spoke how some unfortunate incidents that took place in the lives of North East youth like Nido Tania and Richard Loitam inspired DBYC to rise to the occasion. “North East Youth
Fest Chandigarh should not be just yet another ‘festival’, but it should be educative, entertaining and morally good and make a sea change in the lives of Northeast youth residing here at Chandigarh”, said Director, DBYC.
Fr Regi, Director, Don Bosco Navjeevan Society, spoke of the necessity of coming up with a help desk for North East youth at Chandigarh and volunteered to provide free space for an office. He also suggested having state-wise orientation programmes for North East youth at least once a year, stated the press release.
