‘Northeast states share similar problems’

Kohima, June 14 (EMN): Celebrating three years of Narendra Modi-led BJP government at the Centre, the ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas Sammelan’ programme was held at NBCC Convention Centre, Kohima this evening.
Gracing the occasion as the chief guest, deputy chief minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Chowna Mein said north east states share similar problems which needs to be addressed together.
Emphasizing on the need for good connectivity in terms of roadways, airways and railways, Mein said he has requested the central government to look into these problems faced by all the north eastern states.
He also stressed on the need for development of border areas and improved border connectivity, which he informed, has been intimated to the Central government. He exuded confidence that a day will come when north east states will have good connectivity at par with the rest of the country.
Mein thanked the BJP-led NDA government for ‘solving the long cherished desire of better connectivity’ in Arunachal Pradesh with the inauguration of India’s longest bridge (9.6 km) over Brahmaputra River at Saighat, Assam on May 26 last by Modi.
He also highlighted some ‘positive impacts’ made in the NE states through the policies and schemes of BJP-led NDA government.
Giving a brief background of the programme, vice chairman of DAN and president of BJP Nagaland, Visasolie Lhoungou said the BJP-led NDA government under the leadership of prime minister, Narendra Modi completed three years and to celebrate and mark the occasion of the fourth year, the government has decided to organize ‘Modi Fest’ or ‘the festival of making of developed India’ for May 26 to June 15.
The fest, he said, aims to disseminate information on schemes initiated by the government to every citizen so as to enable the people to avail the facilities and benefits. It comprises various aspects of reaching out to the public with information of government schemes and their implementations, interaction with public and offering a platform for the people to know and avail the schemes initiated by Modi’s government.
In Nagaland, Lhoungou said, the fest of Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas Sammelan programme is being held in 10 districts headquarters except Dimapur where Modi Fest started from June 12. The Modi promotional van had visited different parts in Dimapur and exhibited the government programmes through various medium, he informed.
Among the 105 schemes launched by the Modi government, Lhoungou highlighted some which have been implemented in the state during the 3 years under ministry of Power, Coal, New and Renewable Energy and Mines; ministry of Child and Women Development; ministry of Agriculture; ministry of Urban Development; ministry of Tribal Affairs; ministry of Home Affairs; ministry of Electronic and Information Technology and ministry of Rural Development.
He also assured that if BJP is brought to power, it will ensure that all the schemes and policies launched were implemented and reached to the masses in the right proportion as envisioned.
The programme in Kohima was organized by the Airport Authority of India, Dimapur.
