Northeast Olympic Games 2022: Nagaland’s Dawhuo secures gold in judo

Dimapur, Nov. 15 (EMN): Nagaland’s Venuze Dawhuo secured gold in the +73 kg male category judo event at the on going 2nd Northeast Olympic Games 2022, held at Laban Sports Club Indoor Stadium, Shillong, on Tuesday.

Th Athoiba from Manipur took the silver medal while Lalhrezuala from Mizoram and Anjalu Basumatary from Assam had to settle for bronze.

In the -73 kg male, Kamdon Boi won gold for team Arunachal Pradesh, S Rohit from Manipur won silver and the bronze went to HC Lalchungnunga (Mizoram) and Victor Deb (Meghalaya).

In the -63kg female, Kalpana won gold for team Manipur, Yari Maying from Arunachal took the silver and Doli Gogoi (Assam) and Lalnunfeli (Mizoram) the bronze.

In the +63kg female, Manipur again won gold medal through TH Gangarani, Radika Boro from Meghalaya won silver and Lalkimizimi (Mizoram) and Rani Boro (Assam) bronze.

Meanwhile, the Nagaland Olympic Association has informed that Bongtang Phom will be the flag bearer of the Nagaland contingent at the closing ceremony of the 2nd North East Olympic Games 2022 at Shillong, Meghalaya.

Phom who hails from Longleng district, won a gold medal at the Games in wrestling in the 57 Kg category.
