DIMAPUR — The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has significantly strengthened healthcare services across its network, with the Central Hospital in Maligaon leading recent initiatives to promote health awareness and enhance medical capabilities.

An update from NFR Chief PRO, Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, stated that it has invested heavily in modernising hospital facilities by equipping them with advanced diagnostic tools, operation theatres, and intensive care units (ICUs).

It was stated that such efforts have been pivotal in ensuring timely and accurate diagnoses, thereby improving patient treatment at its hospitals.

Sharma mentioned that the Central Hospital, Maligaon, under NFR, organised a series of health awareness initiatives last week, including Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS) Day, Basic Life Support (BLS) training, and the launch of Breastfeeding Week celebrations.

ORS Day was observed under the theme “Simple solution for a healthier future – sip smart, stay strong, say yes to ORS”. It stated that nursing students presented a street play highlighting the importance of ORS in preventing dehydration.

A BLS training session was also conducted, in collaboration with the Indian Academy of Paediatrics and CPR eSanjeevani, where 20 nurses were trained in life-saving techniques to enhance emergency response.

The hospital also marked the beginning of World Breastfeeding Week on the theme “Invest in breastfeeding, invest in the future” through awareness talks and sessions promoting the benefits of breastfeeding.
