North Eastern Council releases INR 5.71 crore for Nagaland projects in January, besides sanctions for road connectivity in Peren and infrastructure at Government Polytechnic Seithekema-C.

DIMAPUR — The North Eastern Council (NEC) released a total amount of INR 5,71,73,750 for various projects in Nagaland during January 2026.
According to an update from the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), the funds cover projects including the Community Trade Link Centre (CLTC) Project at Jalukie, Peren district; construction of a working women’s hostel at Kohima; capacity building and developing infrastructure for off-road tourism; and a bamboo incense and toothpick manufacturing unit at Jalukie.
Funds were also released for the construction of classrooms and a 40-bed boys’ hostel with amenities at Government Polytechnic Seithekema-C, Chümoukedima.

Under North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme (NESIDS) (Roads), INR 5.61 crore was released to support key road connectivity projects in the state. The fund covers works such as the construction of the road from Jalukie (NH-129A) to the New DC Complex model township, Peren. This contributes to improved access in remote and administrative areas, benefitting a population of around 18,000 across five villages.
Across the region, the NEC released a total of INR 81,50,78,461 in January to all northeastern states and various regional agencies.
In addition to state-specific releases, the NEC disbursed INR 32,59,10,251 to central, regional, and other agencies. Major interventions included the Community Development Programme of the Koireng Tribe in Manipur; promotion of cane and bamboo production in Mizoram and Nagaland; construction of school buildings in Mizoram, Assam, and Manipur; and the establishment of a kiwi orchard in the Northeastern region.
Funds were also released for the construction of a college in Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur; a multipurpose hall at Saikot, Churachandpur; a playground at Pilangkata-Maikhuli, Ri-Bhoi; and a mithun conservation and breeding centre in Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, and Manipur, among others.
