North East Dr. T Ao Trophy: Semi-finals begin today

Kohima, Jan. 26 (EMN): All the roads will lead to Indira Gandhi (IG) Stadium, Kohima on Monday as the much-anticipated semi-finals of the North East Dr. T Ao Trophy will begin today, on Monday at the venue, and football lovers are expected throng the stadium to support for their teams.
Four title contenders — Nagaland, Sikkim, Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh – will take the field in the hope of progressing to the final and subsequently win the prestigious title.
Host Nagaland will clash with two-time champions Mizoram in the first semi-final match to be played at 2 pm on January 27 while Sikkim will take on Arunachal Pradesh in the second semi-final match at 4:30 pm on the same day.
Meanwhile, the organisers of the ongoing North East Dr. T Ao Trophy featuring players from the department of Youth Resources and Sports (YRS) and Organizing Committee XI, played an exhibition match under the floodlight at IG Stadium on Sunday evening.
The Organising Committee XI defeated the department of Youth Resources and Sports 3-2.
During the game, Khriele, Laki and Khekiho scored for Organising Committee XI while Mughato and Menokhole scored for the department of Youth Resources and Sports.
K Kire, former DGP Nagaland and former state player, attended the exhibition match as the match patron.
Meanwhile, an update from DIPR has requested football lovers, who are planning to watch the semi-final matches on Monday, to reach the venue (IG Stadium) by 1 pm in order to ease traffic congestion during peak time. It added that multimedia LED screens will be used to telecast match highlights, best goals, best saves, etc. of the tournament from 1 pm onwards.
