Noklak issues advisory as heavy rainfall triggers floods and landslides
DIMAPUR— As monsoon rains could trigger natural calamities like floods and landslides, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Noklak Arikumba, who is also the chairman of District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), has highlighted the importance of taking precautions and staying informed about potential risks and safety measures.
In an advisory to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the public, the DC urged the people to keep themselves updated about weather conditions and forecasts, avoid flooded areas, not wade through floodwaters and take extra caution while crossing bridges or moving near water bodies.
“Exercise caution while traveling, especially on roads that are prone to flooding or landslide. If encountering heavy rains and reduced visibility, consider postponing one’s journey until the weather improves,” read the advisory made available by the DIPR.
Look out for vulnerable individuals, it said while urging the public to keep an eye on the elderly, children, and those with special needs.
It also asked the people to stay away from electrical power lines especially in wet conditions and report to the concerned authorities if they come across fallen or hanging power lines or any hazardous situation. It added that
