Dimapur, Sep. 16 (EMN): The administration of Noklak district has issued a notice prohibiting a category of vehicles from using a bridge across a stream called Lien.
The government publicity agency the department of Information and Public Relations (IPR) issued updates to the media on Monday informing about a notice from the Noklak establishment.

The additional deputy commissioner of Noklak, M Chaitanya Prasad, issued a notification stating that a bridge across the Lien stream at 11 km from Chendang Saddle had been critically damaged. It threatens to cut off the sub-division from the rest of the state. The official has ordered banning the movement of heavy vehicles from Chingmei to Noklak and vice versa with immediate effect until further notice, the IPR stated.

‘No vehicles above gross weight of 4 tonnes shall be allowed to ply in the said road till the repair is complete. Until then, only the following categories of vehicles are allowed to ply: Tata 407 and similar class; Mahindra Pickups. Tata 207; Sumos, Jeeps, Boleros and other passenger cars,’ the IPR stated.

‘Further, commercial vehicle and taxi service operators have been informed to strictly abide to the permissible carrying capacity of the vehicles.’

Those violating the notice will be fined and prosecuted, the updates stated.
