Dimapur, April 16
In a dramatic turn of event, NPF led by Noke has withdrawn the NPF factional dispute case lying before the Election Commission of India stating that the ‘process of reconciliation and amicable settlement is well underway.’ In a letter to Chief Election Commissioner, ECI, Nuzota Swuro and Noke Wangnao, mentioned dispute case No. 1 of 2015 of NPF and informed him about decision to withdraw the case in view of three reasons.
The NPF cited the ECI’s order, (dated 27th March, 2015) wherein it stated that “the Commission hopes and expects that the internal dispute in the party will be settled amicably within the framework of the Party Constitution which would pave the way for its harmonious function, not only in its own interest but also in the interest of the State of Nagaland where it is the ruling party”.
It also cited that the mass based organisations, civil societies and tribal hohos had appealed to both the NPF groups to reconcile and amicably settle the differences in the interest of the people of the State.
“The CEC of the party in its meeting held on 31st March, 2015 had unanimously adopted the resolution to work towards reconciliation and unity of the party in the greater interest of the party’s unity and the people of the state,” the letter said.
In view of the mentioned points, Noke Wangnao had written a letter (dated 1st April, 2015) addressed to Dr. Shurhozelie to work for reconciliation and unity and Dr. Shurhozelie had replied to the said letter on April 17, ‘highly welcoming’ the reconciliation. Accordingly Noke Wangnao and G. Kaito Aye had replied to his letter with appreciation on April 8.
“Therefore, the process of reconciliation and amicable settlement is well underway and in view of the process of reconciliation, we would like to inform you that we are withdrawing the case before the ECI and we request you to kindly do the needful. The necessary formalities for withdrawal of the case may be communicated by this Commission for doing the needful from our end.”
