DIMAPUR, JANUARY 20

The NPF headed by Noke said the ‘minority’ Chief Minister T.R. Zeliang’s ‘so called’ DAN meeting exposes the fact that he is in the clear minority as only the NPF MLAs who are kept in confinement in Dr. Shurhozelie’s hotel attended the meeting. The meeting was not attended by the BJP office bearers or the BJP MLAs who are all in Delhi. The misleading press release issued by the former secretary general KG Kenye was only meant to mislead the public. However the DAN coordination meeting called by Noke on January 14 was attended by both MLAs and office bearers of the NPF and BJP and the meeting firmly resolved to respect the majority, the NPF (Noke) said in a statement.
“Today a meeting of the NPF Legislature Party was held under the chairmanship of Kaito Aye in which 22 NPF MLAs attended. However, the meeting called by the minority chief minister T.R. Zeliang was attended by only 16 NPF MLAs which included the Speaker who has declared his neutrality. T.R. Zeliang has clearly exposed the very fact that he is in the clear minority within the NPF and even within the DAN. Therefore, he should immediately step down as he no longer enjoys the confidence of the majority of the elected members,” the statement further said.
It then said that G. Kaito Aye, the Leader of the NPF Legislature Party today assured all sections of the people that if given an opportunity he would provide a pro-people and people friendly government where no community would be undermined however big or small. Addressing the CEC of the NPF at Chumukedima, Aye said that all sections of the people belonging to every nook and corner of the state would be taken on board and that transparency, fairness and justice would be his mantra of good governance.
He also said that the topmost agenda would be early resolution of the Indo-Naga political problem in an honorable and acceptable manner. He said that Nagas should also live with honour and respect like other respectable communities under a spirit of unity and brotherhood with equitable growth and development under a progressive people’s government, the statement added.
