DIMAPUR, APRIL 19
The Noke led NPF while asserting that the process of reconciliation put forward by both the groups is in the best interest of the Naga people, said that the process should not let any individual or group to undermine it. Reacting to certain news report the Noke led NPF said it issued this press statement in order to clarify the confusion that has arisen out of the interpretation of the ECI order dated April 18.
The note said the order has a distinct decision of the Commission and a direction.
The NPF quoted two paras of the ECI order as follows: “In view of the position conveyed in the letter dated 16th April 2015 the Commission has decided that there is no need to pass any orders on the applications of Dr. Shürhozelie referred to above, seeking directions and clarifications.”
“As already directed in the order of 27th March, 2015, the outcome of the reconciliation process held for resolving the dispute should be submitted to the Commission as early as possible after appropriate procedures prescribed in the party constitution are completed.”
The NPF said it is clear from these two paras of the said order that the ECI has acknowledged the letter of withdrawal submitted by Noke Wangnao and Nuzota Swuro, and thus the subsequent decision and directives from the Commission.
Moreover, among its many functions, the ECI as a permanent Constitutional body also ensures inner party democracy of political parties, therefore even though the letter of withdrawal was submitted and accepted, it is still under the purview of the commission that the resultant outcome of the process of reconciliation be duly reported.
“We would like to appeal to all that the process of reconciliation put forward by both the groups is in the best interest of the Naga people and should not let any individual or group to undermine it,” the Noke led NPF maintained while ‘humbly’ requesting that “news reports on this issue be handled by those who are subject-matter-experts so as not to create more confusion in the minds of the people”.
