Noke-led NPF has accused Chief Minister TR Zeliang of indulging in horse-trading in a desperate attempt to cling on to power even after the floor test and engaging armed personnel and anti-social elements to threaten MLAs with dire consequences if they do not support him. “He continues to lure elected MLAs by trying to entice them with ministerial berths and lucrative portfolios and even offering them huge amounts of money to switch sides and extend support to him.”
The Noke led NPF statement said, in his desperate attempts to cling on to power, Zeliang has even engaged armed personnel and anti-social elements to threaten MLAs with dire consequences if they do not support his leadership.
“The kidnapping of Deo Nukhu and the capture of Dr. Benjongliba are proof of the fact that the minority chief minister is indulging in horse-trading every day, due to his insecurities and unstable mind.”
Stating that such approach and attitude to run the affairs of the State government will only give rise to corruption, poor governance and adverse impact on growth and development, the party’s statement maintained that the administration of the State has become secondary and horse-trading the order of the day.
“When the State is burning with law and order problem, the so called leaders of the regional party are camping in Delhi trying to convince central leaders and leaders of national parties on their position. All of a sudden, the so called regional party leaders have discovered high commands in Delhi when they have been maintaining that the people are the real high command.”
Noke-led NPF said, Zeliang’s continuing to ‘shamelessly’ occupy the chair of chief minister despite the majority of the MLAs of his party not supporting him, is nothing but murder of democracy and against principles and culture of the Naga people.
