Nodal officers enlightened on their roles

Dimapur, March 20 (EMN): Deputy commissioner (DC) and district election officer (DEO), Kohima, Anoop Khinchi, urged the departmental nodal officers to communicate all information relating to elections to their respective departments and ensure all polling personnel attend the training without fail.

The DC stated this in a meeting of all the departmental nodal officers held in the DC’s conference hall, Kohima, on March 18. The meeting was held in connection with the forthcoming Lok Sabha election 2019.

DC briefed the nodal officers that they have been appointed basically to communicate all the information to their respective departments in regard to election. He sought their cooperation in order to pass the information properly to all the polling personnel of their respective departments and to ensure that the polling personnel attend the training without fail. He also thanked all the departments for extending their cooperation in submitting the incumbency list as required for the election purpose.

ADC Kohima, Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa, also stressed on the important role of nodal officers for the conduct of the forthcoming election. She stated that the office of DEO would directly contact the nodal officers of each department to pass the information on matters relating to election. She added that their main duty was to ensure the information reach the concerned persons.

She also stated that the appointment order of polling personnel for each department should reach the person concerned and ensure participation in the training. She cautioned that the concerned nodal officer would be held responsible in case of any personnel failing to attend the training.

ADC further added that no justification of polling personnel would be entertained except on medical ground with the recommendation of the medical board so constituted for the election purpose. She also reminded the departments, who have not submitted the vehicles list, to submit it within a day.

SDO (Sadar) Kohima, Longasen, who is also the nodal officer of training and personnel management, stated that the first phase of training would start with presiding officers and 1^st polling officers on March 22 followed with 2^nd and 3^rd polling officials on March 23 at Kohima College, Kohima. He requested the nodal officers to keep active contact with the DEO’s office for the successful conduct of the election.

Master trainer and project officer of labour department, T Chubayanger, informed that room for training would be allotted according to the serial no. given in the appointment order. He requested the nodal officers to ensure the serial number visible while passing the appointment order to the polling personnel of their respective departments.

AEO, Toshimeren, who also chaired the meeting, said the nodal officers would be the link between DEO’s office and their respective departments in regard to information related with election matters.
