Dimapur, April 28: In the backdrop of a news report— containing an NSCN (IM) leader’s statement that the outfit “is ready to protect its people if Islamic State (IS) attacks Nagaland”—going viral on the internet, V Horam, who is an executive member of the NSCN (IM)’s steering committee, told Eastern Mirror on Saturday that there was no visible threat to the “nation of Nagalim” as of now.

On April 26, the News18 website had ran a story quoting Horam, “Our Naga Army is ready to defeat the ISIS. A strict order has been issued and our intelligence wing is active.’’

However, on Saturday, Horam said that when he spoke to the channel, he was just expressing his concern in view of the recent circulation of a notice issued by Nagaland’s Chief Secretary, Temjen Toy which had directed certain steps were to be taken in case of an attack.

“Since the Sri Lanka attack was aimed at Christians and Nagalim being a Christian country (sic), we should not take chances,” said Horam and expressed discontent over the news report. He further informed that the Naga army and intelligence agencies have been alerted for safety purposes.

“Nagalim being a Christian-dominated nation, it is good to be prepared and alert even though there is no threat at the moment,” said Horam.
