DIMAPUR — The Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) convened a presidential meeting on Tuesday, bringing together its eight federating student bodies to address critical concerns regarding taxation and developmental projects in eastern Nagaland.

According to a press release, the meeting reaffirmed its longstanding resolution against the imposition of any form of “tax” on teachers.

Reaffirming the “No Tax Zone on the Teaching Community” resolution, which was adopted during a federal assembly in Longleng on January 12, 2015, the ENSF strongly urged all organisations and individuals to comply with the resolution.

“The federating units are fully empowered and directed to take appropriate actions against any individuals or groups found in violation. Furthermore, the federation appeals to all teachers to perform their duties diligently and warns against the practice of employing proxy teachers,” read the press release.

The assembly resolved to caution all contractors and firms undertaking or implementing developmental activities to ensure proper execution of works and projects in eastern Nagaland in accordance with departmental guidelines.

“The federating units are instructed to supervise these projects to ensure proper implementation and to safeguard against external interferences,” it said.

The ENSF’s federating units include the Chang Wedoshi Setshang, Eastern Nagaland Sumi Students’ Union, Khiamniungan Students’ Union, Konyak Students’ Union, Phom Students’ Conference, Tikhir Students’ Union, United Sangtam Students’ Conference, and Yimkhiung Akherü Arihako.
