IMPHAL — The Manipur department of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution (CAF&PD) on Friday clarified that there is no shortage of LPG or other petroleum products in the state, urging the public not to panic.
In a press release, CAF&PD Director K Bono Singh stated that the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), Imphal, has confirmed adequate availability of LPG and petroleum products across Manipur.
“IOCL has reaffirmed that there is sufficient stock of LPG and petroleum products (POL) in the state,” Singh said.
He explained that the temporary disruption in LPG distribution in recent days was due to a technical issue in the all-India Delivery Authentication Code (DAC) system, which has now been resolved and was not related to LPG stock availability in the state.

The department also observed that certain social media users have been spreading misinformation about an alleged shortage of LPG and petroleum products, which has created unnecessary concern among consumers.
In this regard, the department urged the public not to panic or engage in hoarding, warning that such actions could lead to safety risks and accidents.
It may be noted that LPG prices in Manipur were increased from March 7, with domestic cylinders rising by INR 60 and commercial cylinders by INR 120 in Imphal, amid rising energy costs linked to the ongoing Gulf conflict.
Despite the price hike, supply remains normal, according to local distributors.
