Kohima, April 30 (EMN): The Centre on Thursday directed states and union territories to ensure free movement of trucks carrying goods, and iterated that no separate pass is required for trucks to pass through inter-state borders.
The instruction came after reports of movement of trucks being hindered by local authorities and field agencies, who insist on separate passes at inter-state borders in certain parts of the country.
In a communication addressed to chief secretary of states and union territories, Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla stated: “It has been reported that at inter-state borders in different parts of the country, movement of trucks is not allowed freely and local authorities insist upon separate passes.
“No separate passes are required for through traffic of trucks and goods carriers, including empty trucks etc. This is essential for maintaining the supply chain of goods and services across the country during the lockdown period,” it said.
