Kohima, Sep. 20 (EMN): The deputy chief minister, Y Patton, informed that no place has been identified so far for development of a land port in the state.
Patton, who also holds Home portfolio, was responding to a starred question from legislator Yitachu on whether any place was being identified for land port development during the 12th session of the 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly, which commenced on Tuesday in Kohima.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=6]In certain states sharing international borders, land ports are being created, maintained and managed by the Land Port Authority of India, a statutory body working under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.
On being further asked about the department's future plan for the land port development, Patton informed that at present, there are no plans for development of a land port in the state.
However, he stated that there is a proposal for setting up of a land custom station at Avangkhu in Phek district from Industries and Commerce department, Government of Nagaland, which is pending with the Government of India.
