Kohima, July 7 (EMN): Union Minister of State for Steel, Faggan Singh Kulaste has praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for working towards development of the Northeast states, in pace with the rest of the country.

While addressing the launch of the Sangathan Parv Membership Drive (SPMD) for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of Nagaland on July 6 at Hotel Japfü, in Kohima, Kulaste said that no prime minister in the past has thought so much about the welfare of the people of the north-east region.

Kulaste said that he had seen the north-eastern region closely being a tribal himself and also having held the post of Tribal ministry. He added that NE is progressing under the administration of the prime minister; and the trust of the people upon the BJP government is increasing.

According to Kulaste, Nagaland has 1.18 lakh BJP members after the first massive membership drive launched in 2014. He expressed happiness at the state unit’s target to enrol another 2.5 lakh members in this drive.

The membership in the party in the entire country has reached 11 crore and has become the world’s largest political party, he said. The BJP winning 303 seats in the Lok Sabha elections has proved Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Saab ka sath, Saab ka vikas’ true, Kulaste said.

The president of BJP Nagaland unit and Minister of Higher and Technical Education, Temjen Imna Along in his address requested ministers and advisors to strengthen their respective mandal/division. The drive, he said, would strengthen the top of the party leadership.

He claimed that the drive would give immeasurable records. The members of the BJP party should help achieve the vision, plans, ideals, development programmes and schemes of PM Modi right at the grassroots level, Along said.

The minister iterated that all the programmes of the NDA government were aimed at bringing down corruption and unemployment in the country.

According to him, the national leaders know the needs of the Nagas. “Our regional aspiration, our problems, suffering, our poverty, political issues and political solutions too would come from the nation,” Along added.

Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton also addressed the meeting and remarked that BJP retaining power for a second term comes with huge responsibilities, expectations and trust of the people. He called upon the members to rededicate themselves to strive harder and to be a torchbearer of development, peace, prosperity and a harmonious society.

“Prime Minister Modi’s ‘Saab Ka Sath, Saab Ka Vikas, Saab ka Viswas’ needs to be emulated by all BJP karyakartas and we should take this vision to every nook and corner of this country and to our people and make it a reality,” he added.

The deputy chief minister added that with cooperation from the members, BJP would continue to grow from strength to strength in the state even in the days to come.

Patton also announced cash incentives of INR 2 lakh, INR 1.5 lakh and INR 1 lakh for the three best performing mandals in this membership drive.
