No new sand rate fixed by SMSA Manja
Our Correspondent
Diphu, Nov.29 (EMN): The Sand Mahaldar and Suppliers’ Association (SMSA) on Tuesday clarified that no new rate of sand has been fixed by SMSA, Manja and the sand stockists of Dimapur and Chumoukedima; therefore the resumption of sand supply from Manja-Assam from December 1 was “invalid”.
Referring to a statement issued by the Karbi Anglong and Dimapur Transporters’ Association (KADTA) on Monday (November 28), it stated that SMSA had not imposed a ban on the sale and transportation of sand; consequently “the question of lifting a ban on the supply of sand on inter-state particularly, the Manja-Dimapur route does not arise”.
It further stated that talks and negotiations were welcome based on the SMSA prescribed sand rate.
While reiterating that any product for sale is to be fixed by the seller not by the buyer (customer), it said that the rate of sand would be fixed by SMSA, Manja, Karbi Anglong after further consultation.
