Keen to maintain healthy relation with media, says Minister at  Freshers Meet

Principal Correspondent Kohima, September 15 Nagaland Minister for Roads & Bridges and Parliamentary Affairs, Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu today emphasized on the need for youngsters to come up with new ideas to sustain the state. Addressing the 12th Tenyimia Post Graduate Students’ Union Kohima Campus, Meriema as the chief guest at Ura Academy Hall here under the theme “Believe you can and you’re halfway through”, Azo said it is the youngsters who should be the agent of change for the betterment of the Naga society. He also encouraged the students’ community not to give up their efforts towards achieving the goal in life until they succeed. Appreciating the Tenyimia PGSU for coming together as a body, Azo however said that the union should be to bring Nagas together and not to further divide or to encourage tribalism within the Naga society. He also encouraged the Tenyimia PGSU and student bodies of other tribes to bring in chief guest from other tribes so as to build stronger relationship with each other. Meanwhile, reacting to state media houses expressing unhappiness over the defamation suit filed by him, Azo said “when I was in abroad, I heard the press came out against me stating that I filed defamation case against them which is not true”. Claiming that he maintains “very very good rapport with the press and media persons”, he said “I have no intention to hurt the feeling of the press”. “I want to continue the relationship,” he said while justifying “If I am not mistaken, interpretation of the legal notice that was served to the two contractors must have been misinterpreted”. “If there is any lapse, I apologise to press and I will be consulting my legal advisor to take corrective measures,” he said. Exhorting the students as the guest of honour, CEO Entrepreneur Associates, Neichute Doulo said as students they do not have time to stand and stare but they need to put their best lest they would be left behind in this competitive world. He also encouraged the students to build reading and learning habit in order to gain knowledge. He exhorted them to be hardworking and also plan for their future from now onwards in order to achieve the desired goal. Expressing that Nagaland is a land of opportunity, he urged the students to start thinking beyond government jobs as the state government would not be able to create huge number of jobs. The session led by Veralü Vero commenced with Associate Pastor of CBCK Chikhungo Puro pronouncing the invocation prayer. TPGSU president Vechivo Rhakho delivered the presidential note while PGSU president Kegwahyun Tep shared greetings. Wewa-u Mero, English 1st Semester shared on behalf of freshers. Special numbers were presented by Celine & friends and Theja Lohe. Tenyimia representative to PGSU Ruovikuonuo Zumvü tendered the vote of thanks while Dziesetuolie pronounced benediction.
