No ‘KGF 3’ for now despite huge success of ‘KGF 2’; Rocking Star Yash has new project in hand
Rocking Star Yash is not in a rush to finalise his next project after the huge success of ‘KGF’ series. There were reports that he would join hands with Narathan of ‘Mufti’ fame but it appears like the project is not happening, at least for now.
It is reported that he has decided to take a break from ‘KGF’ franchise and planning to do a film which will not be part of any franchise.
“Yash doesn’t want to be branded as the KGF star like Sean Connery and Daniel Craig who were branded as James Bond. After spending a good five years of his life working on the KGF franchise twice, Yash wants to take a break from KGF,” reported Bollywood Hungama citing a source close to the Rocking Star.
However, he will be doing a cameo in Prashanth Neel’s next film ‘Salaar’ starring Prabhas before commencing his next project.
Yash will be seen in ‘Salaar’ as the makers try to bring a connection between ‘KGF’ and Prabhas-starrer in the line of Tamil filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj connecting his one film with another and creating his own cinematic universe, India Today had earlier reported.
‘KGF’ producer Vijay Kiragandur had earlier given hint about creating a Marvel-style franchise of ‘KGF’.
“Going forward, we are going to create a Marvel kind of universe. We want to bring different characters from different movies and create something like Doctor Strange. The way it happened in Spider Man Home Coming or Doctor Strange. So that we can reach a wider audience easily,” The Hindustan Times had quoted the producer as saying.
Owing to this move, Yash’s appearance in ‘Salaar’ doesn’t come as a surprise.
‘Salaar’, like ‘KGF’ franchise, will be made in multiple languages. Besides Prabhas, the movie has Malayalam actor Prithviraj Sukumaran, Telugu actor Jagapathi Babu and Shruti Haasan in the cast.
Prashanth Neel’s favourites Ravi Basrur and Bhuvan Gowda are handling the music and cinematography, respectively, for the movie which is scheduled to hit the screens in September this year. After ‘Salaar’, Neel will be teaming up with Junior NTR for a film, which will be produced by Mythri Movie Makers.
Meanwhile, the third installment of ‘KGF’ or ‘KGF 3’ may take off in 2025.
Kiragandur had said in a recent interview that Yash will be playing the lead role till the fifth part of ‘KGF’, after which another hero will step into his shoes. “It is possible in the KGF franchise that after the 5th part, another hero may play Rocky Bhai’s role, just like the James Bond series, the heroes keep changing,” he told Metrosaga.
The first in the series of ‘KGF’, which hit the screens in December 2018, was initially made only in Kannada but the makers of the movie decided to dub it in other languages after receiving overwhelming response other markets as well.
The second in the series — ‘KGF 2’ — was the biggest box-office hit of 2022 in India, collecting more than over INR 1200 crore. No wonder there is much hype about its sequel ‘KGF 3’.
