DIMAPUR — Elaborating that elementary education is a constitutional right, Nagaland Governor, La. Ganesan, insisted that no child should be left behind in seeking education.

Ganesan stated this in a meeting with government officials and civil society organisations held at DB’s Customary Court during his visit to Shamator district on Wednesday. Stating that the literacy rate of Shamator district was 66.25 %, which is lowest in the state, he urged the gathering to put extra efforts to provide proper education.

The governor reminded that despite many challenges like financial implications, Shamator district was created for the people of Yimkhiung and Tikhir tribes to deliver good governance and administration closer to the people of Shamator for peace and development. In this regard, he called upon the two communities to forget and forgive past issues and conflicts stating that peace is required for growth and progress of the society.

The governor has suggested equitable share in all the development activities irrespective of village, area, clan and tribe, stated a DIPR report.

Ganesan also urged the government officials to put efforts in providing basic necessities for the benefit of the people like education, drinking water, health, good roads and banking facilities.

Earlier, the governor held an interaction with the civil society organisations and head of offices.
