DIMAPUR — The Naga National Council (Parent Body) has expressed concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in ‘homeland’ ahead of Christmas.

“The Naga National Council (Parent Body), under the leadership of Yilow Humtsoe, Zhiongba Yimkhiung, and V. Nagi, expresses our concern over the deteriorating political situation in the Homeland,” a statement from the NNC (PB) said.

It further added that it is very sad to see the incidents of violence and killings taking place with the festive season right around the corner, which should be a time of peace and joy.

It condemned “all the killings taking place during the most merry time of the year” and noted that all these wicked acts of violence must stop for the sake of the people to peacefully and happily celebrate the birth of the Messiah.

The NNC (PB) further appealed to all concerned individuals and groups to shun violence and let peace and unity prevail for the best interest of the people.

“As the parent body of the Naga people rooted in the principles of non-violence, we, the NNC, will always stand for peace and national unity, upholding the interests of the entire people in the region,” the statement read.

Meanwhile, it has wished everyone in the homeland and beyond a joyous Christmas and a prosperous new year.
