NLEP to conduct leprosy campaign in Dimapur

DIMAPUR, AUGUST 28: State Programme Officer of the National Leprosy Elimination Programme (NLEP), Dr. Ahu Sekhose informed that Leprosy Case Detection Campaign (LCDC) will be conducted in Dimapur district where the prevalence of new case of leprosy is high. Dr. Ahu Sekhose said this during district level review meeting of micro plan on Leprosy Control and Detection Campaign (LCDC) held on August 24 at DTL&P (AYUSH) building, Dimapur. The meeting was a follow up of medical officers’ training on LCDC held on August 17 and 18. Dr. Ahu Sekhose, stated that despite Nagaland was the first state in the country to achieve Leprosy Elimination Status in 1998, the prevalence rate in Dimapur district is still high. Informing that Government of India has selected some states where prevalence is still high, he said LCDC will also be conducted in Dimapur district where the prevalence of new case of leprosy is high. Micro-plans prepared by block representatives were reviewed. The LCDC Micro plans were prepared block wise for better coverage. The meeting was attended Dr. SK Dey, State Leprosy Consultant; Dr. C Yanpo Kithan, ZLO Dimapur; Dr. Toshirenla; all block MO in-charge; Block Program Managers, and ASHA co-ordinators.
