Nagaland Legislative Assembly likely to adopt resolution on Naga political issue
Kohima, Sep. 14 (IANS): A two-day session of the Nagaland Assembly would be held from September 20 where a fresh resolution urging the Central government to resolve the Naga political issue was expected to be adopted in the house, officials said on Wednesday.
A senior official said that the 12th session of the 13th Nagaland Assembly is again likely to adopt a resolution requesting the Centre to finalise the long-pending Naga political issue at the earliest. The Assembly earlier also, cutting across party lines, adopted such unanimous resolutions to settle the Naga political issue without further delay.
The business advisory committee of the Assembly in its meeting on Monday finalised the schedule.
The ruling parties in Nagaland, all other Naga bodies and civil society organisations are making all out efforts to resolve the Naga political issue before the next Assembly elections, expected to be held in February next year.
On Monday, the Parliamentary Core Committee headed by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi and urged him to finalise the Naga political settlement at the earliest.
