Mokokchung, Dec. 5 (EMN): The long-awaited “Vision Mokokchung 2040” document- a product of the Mokokchung Town Quasquicentennial planning and organising committee 2015 was officially released at ADC Planning Conference Hall in Mokokchung on December 5.
The book was formally released by Sharingain Longkumer, Speaker of Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA).
The Speaker appealed to all to create a mission that can penetrate every aspect of the society with the valued vision for the country.
"Without a vision, without a mission, nothing can be achieved, therefore, this is the first step which we have to take collectively for the people of Mokokchung," he asserted.
Longkumer also shared his longing to go back to the era where Mokokchung was a cosmopolitan of some of the finest leaders in the state.
However, he lamented that over the years there have been many factors that have hindered the state from exploiting the potential and strategic location of Mokokchung.
He further seconded the proposal of Mokokchung District Art & Culture Council (MDACC) that the vision document should be digitally integrated into the NIC portal of the district to reach out to all the citizens.
The speaker also suggested that the village councils should partake to ensure that integrated and collective initiative is present to achieve every aspect of the document. “This is our soil, this is our country we should uplift it in every possible manner,” he asserted.
Mokokchung Deputy Commissioner Limawabang Jamir also expressed appreciation and gratitude to Mayangnokcha Award Trust (MAT) for preparing the Vision document and the MDACC for publishing the book on behalf of the people of Mokokchung.
Jamir maintained that Mokokchung is naturally blessed to be a hub for many activities, which includes economics, music, technology, and education vice versa.
In this connection, he said that the district needs a mission to become a hub and attract the attention of the central government to achieve its aspiration.
He also announced that to carry forward the Vision Mokokchung 2040 a committee will be formed comprising district administration, technocrats, NGOs and civil society to draw a roadmap on how to move forward the vision document.
