DIMAPUR — Sharingain Longkumer, the Speaker of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly and Chairman of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) India Region Zone-III, met with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla in Delhi on Saturday.
The main agenda of the meeting was to discuss suitable dates for hosting the upcoming 21st annual CPA conference, according to an update.
The annual conference brings together legislative leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders from across the nation. It aims to foster collaboration, exchange best practices, and address pressing legislative challenges.
The discussions between Longkumer and Birla focused on aligning schedules and ensuring maximum participation from all relevant parties.
Meanwhile, Longkumer congratulated Birla on being elected as Speaker of the Lok Sabha for a second term. Birla expressed his pleasure at learning that the NLA will host the next CPA India Region Zone-III conference after Mizoram this year.
The Speaker of the Lok Sabha also congratulated Longkumer on being appointed as the chairperson of Zone-III and wished him the very best in this new role, offering support and encouragement.
The visit concluded with a shared commitment to continued communication and cooperation, with both leaders expressing optimism about the outcomes of their discussions.
